No injuries reported although damages caused by tornadoes in South


On Saturday, two powerful winter storms threatened heavy snow & dangerous winds to Upper Midwest as tornadoes touched down from northeast Texas into southern Indiana.

Two tornadoes had touched down in Arkansas by Saturday afternoon.

No  injuries were reported although 23 people killed by a tornado in Alabama.

A tornado touched down 30 miles east of Little Rock in Carlisle, Arkansas while a second one was near southeast of Carlisle in unincorporated community of Slovak.

Several power lines brought down, buildings were destroyed, roofs torn away & bricks pulled down from buildings in small community of Walnut with population of 3000.

“It was more than straight-line winds. One of the shops, it had debris strewn over two miles, (another) one of them was just twisted in a big twist with metal on top of automobiles that were in there”

Severe thunderstorms, including some tornadoes, are possible this evening for the second weekend in a row in parts of the South following last Sunday’s deadly tornado outbreak. The low-pressure system, named Winter Storm Taylor by The Weather Channel, will develop in the nation’s mid-section, drawing warmer, more humid air north from the Gulf of Mexico.

Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist warns of heavy wind-driven snows to parts of northern Michigan from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

National Weather service also warned of driving snow-covered roads as wind gusts in 50 mph that topples high-profile vehicles & damage property.

Parts of western Dakotas has seen 90 inches of snow by mid-morning Saturday.

Much of Minnesota in Twin cities was bracing for 10 inches of snow.

According to the weather channel, a jet stream pushes into Mississippi Valley that delivers the deep wind shear required to support thunderstorms.
