On Friday, Chelsea Manning was jailed as she refused to reply questions of federal grand jury in Virginia looking into releasing documents to Wikileaks.
Claude Hilton, US District Judge said, Manning would remain in federal custody until the life of grand jury.
Chelsea was prepared to be jailed after the closed hearing.
Manning appeared on Wednesday before the same jury in US District Court of Eastern Virginia although she refused to answer any further questions.
Manning was charged of espionage for leaking secret military files to Wikileaks in 2013.
Claude’s lawyer asked if she could be confined at home due to medical issues but judge refused& assured that US Marshals address her care needs.
“I accept whatever you bring upon me. I will not comply with this, or any other grand jury. Imprisoning me for my refusal to answer questions only subjects me to additional punishment for my repeatedly-stated ethical objections to the grand jury system”, Claude said
Chelsea was taken into custody today for resisting a grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia Chelsea provided the following statement:
Manning was also arrested in 2010 in Iraq for disclosing 700,000 confidential documents, cables & videos to the anti-secrecy website.
On the other hand, Manning claimed that she did so in order to spark debates about US foreign policy.
Manning was sentenced to 35 years after found guilty of 20 charges to leak. However, She only served seven before Barack Obama commuted her sentence in 2017.
