Russell Wilson, Quarterback has set an April 15 deadline for finalizing a new contract with Seahawks. Wilson is paid $21.9 million annually as part of a four-year $87.6 million contract expires at 2020.

April 15 is first day of official off season training program of Seahawks when Wilson finalizes contract to avoid following speculation throughout 2015 season while negotiating until the day before their training camp.

Wilson wouldn’t have an issue to play through season without a contract.

“Oh, yeah, if that’s what I’ve got to do. I know essentially after this season I could potentially be a free agent, that kind of thing. I don’t think that way — I see myself being in Seattle. I love Seattle, special place for me”

Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay, highest paid NFL’s quarterback makes $33.5 million annually with Wilson trailing as 12th highest-paid.

Wilson may not be a free agent even if he doesn’t sign a new contract as the team might use franchise tag that binds Wilson for one year raising his salary to $30.6 million for 2020 season.
