Diplomatic relations with Colombia broke off by Maduro after Venezuela’s borders witnessed violence

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, broke the diplomatic relations between Colombia & Venezuela after borders between the two countries had witnessed violence where international aid waited before entering Venezuela.

After the opposition leader, Juan Guaido had determined the deadline for allowing aid to cross border was on Saturday, Maduro vowed to block supplies from penetrating country.

  • Adriana Pichardo, National Assembly Representative told CNN that five people killed after clashes occurred in front of Venezuelan security forces.
  • Tear gases were fired by Venezuelan National Guard at protesters near the Colombian border, 285 people were hurt in addition to 37 requiring hospitalization.
  • According to communication’s office for the Brazilian presidency, two trucks crossed borders into Venezuela on Saturday carrying Brazilian humanitarian.
  • “We will not stop until we see freedom in Venezuela”, opposition leader, Guaido stated on Saturday night.
  • “What kind of a sick tyrant stops food from getting to hungry people? The images of burning trucks filled with aid are sickening”, US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo on Twitter.

  • Trucks set on fire

After protestors had demanded to cross borders for going to work at Ureña, Colombia, National Guard teared gas to disperse them which led to clashes between two sides.

Soldiers started firing tear gas after three Congress members, two men & a lady had raised their hands  in the air before walking towards a human barrier slowly.

Two trucks set on fire as a result of fires from Venezuelan security forces towards volunteers were unloading aid on the Francisco de Paula bridge.

A ship carry humanitarian aid to Venezuela was threatened by Venezuelan military ships, according to claims by  Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello.

“This threat constitutes a serious violation of a humanitarian mission, composed of American citizens. It is unacceptable and outrageous”, Ricardo stated.

  • Maduro: ‘My patience has run out’

According to Maduro, aid efforts were part of US plot to perform a coup against legitimacy in Venezuela in order to reach the “US puppet, Guaido ” in to power without elections.

“My patience has run out. I can’t continue to tolerate the aggression against Venezuela that are being carried out by the Colombian government. If the empire dares to attack, they will be received by the strength of the Venezuelan armed forces”, statement by Maduro.

Maudro told Colombian ambassador to leave Venezuela after the diplomatic relations were broke off.

“The U.S. will take action against those who oppose the peaceful restoration of democracy in #Venezuela. Now is the time to act in support of the needs of the desperate Venezuelan people”, tweet by Pompeo, US Secretary of State.

US admits that Guaido is the legitimate president of Venezuela. US Vice President Pence is scheduled to meet Guaido on Monday during Pence’s visit to Colombia in Bogota.

Guaido has been working desperately with global partners to bring needed food and medical supplies for Venezuelans.

“Today the world has seen the tyranny that we struggle with in Venezuela. People celebrated that hospitals could not get access to the aid. We must move forward and seek the necessary help to stop the tyranny. We will not stop until we see freedom in Venezuela”, Guadio stated
