Trump calls face masks patriotic. 3.8 million virus cases

In the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic, USA, after months of declining to wear a face cover at public events. On Monday President Donald Trump tweeted that wearing a face mask is “patriotic.”

“We are united in our endeavor. To defeat the Invisible China Virus. And many people say that wearing a face mask is patriotic. When you can not socially distance yourself”. Trump wrote. “Your beloved President. No-one is more Patriotic than me.”

For the first time earlier this month, the president was seen sporting a facemask in public at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington , D.C., where he visited with injured veterans of the army and treatment professionals for treatment for COVID-19 patients.

The president is the most patriotic

Trump said to reporters as he entered the White House: “If you’re in a hospital, I think it’s a smart idea to wear a mask.”

Trump has refused to wear a mask at official appearances, including press conferences, protests, and coronavirus task force meetings, prior to the incident in Washington.

Moreover, Trump has repeatedly dubbed COVID-19 the “China flu.”

The virus was first identified in December, in Wuhan , China.

More than 14.6 million individuals around the world have been infected with the virus since it was discovered, according to a count by Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. remained the virus’ epicenter on Monday, with more than 3.8 million cases confirmed.

To date, as a result of COVID-19, 140,811 people have died in the United States.

“We ‘re seeing a boom right now. No doubt”. Said U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Adm. Brett Giroir, who directs the Covid-19 research activities of the administration.

“Indeed, we have increased incidents. Especially in the Sun Belt”. Giroir said. “We have more reports than we did a week ago. Also 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago, 4 weeks ago. That’s really obvious.” President Trump assured that this is patriotic.

Because of Monday morning, according to reports from Johns Hopkins University, 31 states have had more new diagnoses this past week as opposed to new diagnoses from the previous week.

And certain places are overwhelming by new hospitalizations or deaths.
