Abortions are no longer allowed for family planning clinics by decision of President Trump

Low income Americans will no longer be allowed to carry abortions after President Trump closed family planning clinics financed by tax-payers.

According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that took the action against abortions, government family planning program serve 4 million low income Americans.

Currently, abortions, contraception & health screenings are offered by health centers that non-profit Planned Parenthood run.

Planned Parenthood receives up to $60 million a year in federal funds for family planning services for family planning that services 41 % of Title X patients.

In order to continue family planning services, health clinics must stick with the new rules that include;

  • clear physical & financial separation between Title X funded programs  & projectswhere abortion is a method of family planning
  • eliminates the requirement Title X providers offer abortion referral & counseling
  • prohibiting referral for abortion as a method of family planning

“Consistent with the statutory requirement that no funds may be expended where abortion is a method of family planning, this regulation no longer requires, and affirmatively prohibits, referral for abortion as a method of family planning. new regulation permits, but no longer requires, non directive pregnancy counseling, including non directive counseling on abortion”, HHS released.

New rules come between opponents & supporters.

According to Dr. Leana Wen, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the new rule is unethical.

“This rule compromises the oath that I took to serve patients and help them with making the best decision for their own health. Patients expect their doctors to speak honestly with them, to answer their questions, to help them in their time of need. Imagine if the Trump administration prevented doctors from talking to our patients with diabetes about insulin. It would never happen. Reproductive health care should be no different. Reproductive health care is health care and health care is a basic human right”, Dr. Leana Wen cited.

On the other hand, officials of California & New York threat to take legal actions against this new rule.

“These new rules are dangerous and unnecessary, and will prevent millions of Americans from obtaining the care they need and deserve. We will take legal action’, Letitia James, New York’s Attorney General announced.
