A shooting occurred at a Rite Aid support facility (a drugstore distribution center) in Hartford County, Maryland.
Law enforcement official briefed CNN that the shooter was a woman who has killed three people and wounded two others on Thursday.
The suspect fired a single handgun and the suspect is currently in custody and in critical condition in a local hospital.
Susan Henderson a Rite Aid spokeswoman said the shooting happened adjacent to the primary building and around 1,000 employees work at the center and said the location is secure. The locals were very shocked to have so many first responders, police and media outlets rushing to such a calm place. A local on speaking to the press said “It’s really just usually very calm, and this is the most chaotic I’ve ever seen it,” she told the station. “It’s very scary when it’s just right there on your doorstep because you can see a billion news reports about shooters, about emergency instances, and it still doesn’t make it real to you.”
The FBI’s Baltimore office has been working along side members of Bureau of ATF. “We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting,” Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted. “Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders. The state stands ready to offer any support.”
Within a week this is the third mass shooting that has happened. The initial shooting injured three people at a complex in Wisconsin on Wednesday and Pennsylvania a gunman injured four people at the Masontown Borough Municipal Center. Police has killed the shooters in both the Wednesday incidents.
