Brazil Presidential Front-Runner In Serious Condition

Recently at a campaign rally, the leading Candidate for next month’s presidential election has been stabbed and is been reported in a serios, but stable condition after surgery.

A former army captain, Jair Bolsonaro, who’s far-right views have placed him ahead in the polls, was seen to be carried on the shoulders of his supporter’s in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais when he was suddenly attacked by someone in the crowd.

Before the supporters of Jair Bolsonaro could take any action the police took the man into custody.

Police say they have arrested a 40-year-old man identified as Adelio Obispo de Oliveria in connection with the stabbing. Reuters quotes officials as saying the suspect is mentally disturbed.

According to reports, doctors say it could take Bolsonaro up to two months to fully recover and that he would be in the hospital for at least a week — throwing the rest of the campaign into question.
