The president’s comments came in an interview with Fox News, hours after White House spokesman Hogan Gidley confirmed that
“President Trump wants a trial in the Senate because it is clearly the only council where he can expect fairness and fair treatment under the Constitution.”
Over the course of five days, a series of hearings involving a number of former and current officials in the US administration were held as part of an investigation to hold Trump accountable.
