Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a businessman and managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority for the Emirati region. He is a member of the ruling Abu Dhabi Al Nahyan dynasty.
Early life of Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
Sheik Hamed the son of Abu Dhabi’s late emir (ruler), founder and first president of the UAE. His mum is Sheik Mouza. He has four full-brothers, the late Sheik Ahmed and Sheik Saif included. Hamed holds an accounting degree from the University of Emirates, and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Wales.
Sheik Hamed is Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s court president and member of Abu Dhabi’s executive council. He is the deputy chairman of a board of trustees of Khalifa University. Sheik Hamad is the president of Etihad Airways’ board of directors, also the Airlines controlled by the Abu Dhabi government.
He succeeded his deceased brother Sheik Ahmed on 14 April 2010, as managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Agency, also one of the three largest sovereign wealth funds.
In 2012 he was included in the Bloomberg Markets magazine’s 50 Most Influential list. He’s in the running for 12th position. Sheik Hamed was also ranked # 1 on the Public Investor 100 list by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute in July 2013.
On 9th of April, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Emir, Deputy Commander in chief of the UAE Armed Forces and also Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has released a resolution reforming the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa University for Science and Technology, headed by H.H. Hamed bin Zayed al Nahyan.
The Board of Trustees includes Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi as Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Department of Government Assistance, CEO of ADNOC, Chairman of the Board of SEHA, CEO of Emirates Telecommunications Group, CEO of Edge Holding Firm, Vice CEO of Mubadala and CEO of Corporate and Human Resources Affairs, Director General of Emirates Space Agency, Jeff Simons, Dr Steven Walker.
The Board of Trustees’ term will also be renewable every three years.
